DNDi’s mission to develop life-saving treatments for neglected patients around the world can only be done by putting patients and communities at the heart of everything we do — treating patients not as beneficiaries, but as partners.
We have always had patient representatives on our Board of Directors, ensuring their voices are heard at the highest level of decision-making. Once again, we’re inviting a patient representative to join us. If you’re a patient advocate, or know someone who is, apply now or help us spread the word.
Among other functions, the Patient Representative Board member’s role is to ensure DNDi’s work remains aligned with the true needs of those it serves, and improves the relevance and impact of its R&D efforts. The Board member integrates the patient’s voice into DNDi’s governance processes, fosters relationships with communities and patient groups, advocates for the formation of patient groups where they do not exist, and encourages a patient-centered viewpoint for ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks, especially concerning clinical trials, access to treatments, informed consent, and the creation and active participation of community advisory committees.
