Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation
2023
The Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, the most prestigious in Spain, recognizes DNDi’s accomplishments in delivering new, safe, effective, affordable, and accessible treatments for some of the world’s most neglected diseases.
ISNTD Festival
2023 - Lifetime Award
The International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases presented its 2023 Lifetime Award to DNDi in recognition of the organization’s achievements in the past 20 years, developing new treatments using a not-for-profit model and driving forward advocacy for the world’s most neglected patients and at risk communities.
2019 – Film Award
DNDi’s film ‘A doctor’s dream’ won a film award.
2017 – Film Award
DNDi’s film ‘Mycetoma: Hope for a devastating neglected disease’ won a film award.
Prix Galien Africa
2021
The Prix Galien Africa rewards excellence and innovation. It is awarded for products, services and initiatives that are highly convincing or promising in the field of innovative discoveries and therapies for the benefit of humanity. In 2021, DNDi was awarded the Best Pharmaceutical Product for fexinidazole, the first all-oral treatment for sleeping sickness.
Prince Mahidol Award
2020-2021
The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation was established in honour of His Royal Highness and in recognition of his exemplary contribution as “The Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of Thailand.” DNDi’s founder and former Executive Director Bernard Pécoul was awarded the Prince Mahidol Award in Public Health for outstanding contribution in the field of public health for the sake of the well-being of the peoples.
French National Order of Merit
2021
The French National Order of Merit is a presidential award that recognizes distinguished services or acts of devotion, bravery, generosity, and commitment to the service of others, in the military or in the public and private sectors. It is ranked as the second highest award in France after the Legion of Honour (Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur).
It was awarded to Monique Wasunna in her position as DNDi Africa Regional Office Director for her exemplary work helping people with neglected tropical diseases and advocating for better treatments for neglected patients in Africa.
Golan Christie Taglia Patient Impact Philanthropy Award
2020
DNDi was awarded the Golan Christie Taglia Patient Impact Philanthropy award in 2020 for driving improvements in clinical care and, most importantly, creating patient impact through medical repurposing..
Grand Prix, WHO Health for All Film Festival
2020
The DNDi film on sleeping sickness “A doctor’s dream” won the Grand Prix in 2020 at the WHO Health for All Film Festival. The film follows Congolese doctor, Victor Kande, and his role in the development of an all-oral treatment for sleeping sickness.
Else Kröner Fresenius Award for Development Cooperation in Medicine
2020
The Else Kröner Fresenius Award for Development Cooperation in Medicine in recognition of special humanitarian commitment and involvement was presented to DNDi’s Dr Florent Mbo for his role in promoting access to the new oral medication against sleeping sickness, fexinidazole in Africa.
Anne Maurer-Cecchini Award
2018
The 2018 Anne Maurer-Cecchini award to encourage and sustain research in the field of neglected tropical diseases was given to: Victor Kande Betu Ku Mesu et al for their outstanding randomized control trial entitled: ‘Oral fexinidazole for late-stage African Trypanosoma brucei gambiense trypanosomiasis: a pivotal multicentre, randomised, non-inferiority trial’.
Prix 2017 de l'Innovation
2017
DNDi was awarded Geneva Canton’s Innovation Prize 2017 in recognition of its innovative and collaborative model, as well as the progress made in medical innovation for neglected patients.
Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance Excellence Award
2014
The Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals awarded the 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance Excellence Award to the decade-long partnership between DNDi and Sanofi in recognition of the “profound, measurable, and positive social impact” that this public-private partnership has had in the fight against malaria.
FINEP Award for Innovation
2014
The FINEP Award for Innovation was awarded to DNDi Latin America in recognition of its delivery of ASMQ, a new antimalarial drug developed in Brazil.
Carlos Slim Foundation
2013
DNDi Latin America was awarded the Carlos Slim Institute for Health’s 2013 Outstanding Institution award, recognizing DNDi’s achievement in developing and delivering innovative solutions for health problems in Latin America, in this case new treatments for Chagas disease and malaria.
The Rockefeller Foundation
2013
DNDi was awarded the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Century Innovators Award for organizations making a difference for poor and vulnerable populations through innovation.
BBVA Foundation
2012
The Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Development Cooperation was presented to DNDi for delivering six new treatments for neglected diseases in less than 10 years for Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, sleeping sickness and malaria, for while building sustainable research capacity in disease-endemic countries.
Societé de Pathologie Exotique Golden Medal
2008
The Societé de Pathologie Exotique Golden Medal was presented to DNDi for its involvement in the fight against neglected diseases.
Goodwin Award
2008
DNDi was awarded the University of Siena’s Goodwin Award engaging public and private partners worldwide, especially in neglected disease-endemic countries, to ensure that the best science is made available for those neglected patients.
