The Communications team develops and implements the global communications and visibility strategy. It aims for DNDi to be seen as a unique, relevant, and impactful project, and visibly supported by powerful champions at the global and regional level, and within influential constituencies.
Purpose of position
The primary function of the Digital Communications Manager is to lead the social media strategy using a range of online channels and tools to communicate effectively with DNDi’s stakeholders and target audiences. This position oversees all of the corporate social media channels (currently LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube) and supports executive management personal social media channels.
The Digital Communications Manager leads the social media strategy, social media policies, and coordinates social media activities including editorial planning and daily social media posting. This position offers communications tools technical guidance and leads the ongoing scoping of the fast-evolving digital communications landscape for new opportunities to proactively adapt strategies.
As part of a global team, this position participates in the overall definition of Comms strategy and priorities, and contributes ideas for DNDi’s online presence, including not only DNDi corporate channels but also other social media channels (e.g., in other languages or other executive accounts) as well as DNDi’s websites.
Specific job responsibilities
Strategy and editorial planning (70%)
- Lead the social media strategy and manage the editorial plan for DNDi’s social media channels to profile DNDi’s mission, brand, research, and achievements for its stakeholders and target audiences to increase visibility, audience engagement, and influence.
- Prepare and maintain a social media editorial calendar and planning tools in coordination with other communications team members, including defining and approving content production types, dissemination tactics, content frequency, and schedules. Collaborate with other communications managers to align editorial strategy, content calendar, use of audiovisual assets, and cross-channel production and campaigns.
- Implement processes and guidelines to ensure consistent, efficient production of engaging, impactful and accurate output on both corporate social media channels and other channels managed by Communications team members.
- Lead major social media campaigns and content series by working closely with communications team members to identify milestones and organizational priorities, determining tactics, building internal team and potentially external service providers to deliver the content, and overseeing dissemination.
- Coordinate with colleagues in regional offices with the development and roll out of these campaigns onto regional social media channels.
- Identify opportunities to work with other organizations to build collaboration and reach.
- Develop relationships with micro-influencers to expand reach to target audiences.
- Build a positive social media voice and brand on DNDi’s social media channels liaising with corporate communications and other team members to ensure impactful and consistent branding online.
- Monitor and support the use of social media by DNDi staff through training and reference resources, contributing to social media to amplify reach and mitigate risks.
- Implement effective active monitoring of social media. Oversee team to reply quickly to social media conversations, act on social media engagement opportunities, and monitor risks.
- Lead ongoing scoping of digital communications strategies, tactics, trends and tools to proactively adapt strategies and make recommendations to management on e.g. new social media channels.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators and insights to guide behaviour, identify trends, understand DNDi’s audience, and identify effective, engaging content to replicate. Encourage use & implementation of indicators by other channel managers.
- Oversight of digital budget, service providers, and team members.
Content production (30%)
- Contribute substantially to creating a steady flow of content for social media including writing posts, drafting scripts, contributing to short videos, and supporting to production of graphics.
- Conceptualize, organize, and deliver compelling campaigns and content series working in close collaboration with global Communications team members and external service providers.
- Organize and review the type, quality, and frequency of content for social media produced by Comms team members in all DNDi offices.
- Develop engagement strategy to build relationships and amplify messages such as by creating social media packages to expand reach, engaging with key DNDi stakeholders, working with social media influencers, and developing paid social media strategies where impactful.
- Oversee the creation of social media templates and the use of social media tools.

Education
- Advanced post graduate degree or graduate degree with equivalent in experience to reach Master level
