Over 300,000 people live with Chagas disease in the US, but very few people have been tested and treated. In Gainesville, Florida, a group of scientists and doctors led by Dr Norm Beatty at the The Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI), University of Florida are trying to end the neglect of this parasitic killer.
Shot by award-winning photojournalist Neil Brandvold and edited by the Moronga Films, based in Oaxaca, Mexico, this short film shows how neglected diseases all over the world can be fueled by climate change, migration, and increased human-animal interaction. Music by Larry and Joe, a Venezuelan/Appalachian duo from North Carolina.
