Summary: Chagas disease is a leading cause of heart failure in the Americas, affecting over six million people. Increasing evidence shows that treatment of the causative agent of Chagas disease can prevent chronic complications from the disease and halt congenital transmission, yet access to diagnosis and treatment of Chagas disease is very limited. Integration of testing and treatment with the primary healthcare system is a key step in ensuring affected people receive timely treatment; this article describes three such collaborative projects in Bolivia, Argentina, and Colombia.
