Grandes Tueuses: une série documentaire pour décrypter les enjeux majeurs de santé publique à l’échelle mondiale

Cette co-production est soutenue par les Investissements d’avenir dans le cadre du projet Estim-numérique piloté par Universcience.

La Fondation Mérieux, l’Inserm, l’Institut Pasteur, Réseau CANOPE, MSF, Universcience, le DNDi… Les principaux acteurs français de la lutte contre les maladies infectieuses présentent la série et le webdocumentaire Grandes Tueuses, disponibles en ligne dès maintenant. Conçues comme un outil de sensibilisation pour le grand public et les acteurs de terrain, les 70 vidéos décrivent 14 grandes problématiques de santé publique et sont en open data, en libre accès et libre utilisation. En complément, le webdocumentaire est présenté sur le site d’Allô Docteurs.

La série documentaire Grandes Tueuses décrit 14 problématiques de santé publique. Virus, bactéries… Depuis la nuit des temps, l’Homme lutte contre des ennemis aussi minuscules que dangereux, à l’origine de maladies mortelles. Si des victoires importantes émaillent ce long combat contre les « grandes tueuses » (découverte des antibiotiques au début du XXème siècle par exemple), la guerre n’a jamais été gagnée, notamment pour les populations les plus pauvres. Ces pathologies restent par ailleurs méconnues du grand public. Ainsi, la récente épidémie d’Ebola a, une fois encore, montré que de nombreux fantasmes circulent toujours à propos des maladies épidémiques.

Dans cette série documentaire multimédia, chaque pathologie est abordée à travers cinq modules (vidéo, photo, animation, infographie) portant sur ses contextes géographique et historique, ses effets sur l’organisme, son traitement, et enfin les espoirs pour l’avenir. Des reportages tournés aux quatre coins du monde donnent la parole aux patients et aux soignants, en privilégiant une approche humaine mais rigoureusement scientifique. Des reportages au cœur de la recherche et de l’innovation présentent les perspectives pour l’avenir.

L’ensemble des partenaires se sont accordés pour céder les droits de la série afin que quiconque – institution, association, particulier – puisse s’en saisir et l’utiliser à des fins de sensibilisation.  Mis à disposition sur une plateforme vidéo, les 14 sujets sont donc librement téléchargeables. L’utilisation de ces documentaires est gratuite, aussi bien dans un cadre professionnel que privé.

En complément, le webdocumentaire Grandes Tueuses, construit autour de sept pathologies, propose à l’internaute une découverte interactive et multimédia de l’antibiorésistance, du virus Ebola, de l’hépatite C, du paludisme, de la rougeole, de la tuberculose et du VIH-Sida. Les modules vidéo sont enrichis par une sélection de liens permettant d’en savoir plus.
