Steven A. King, Ph.D is a retiring pharmaceutical executive with 30 years of experience in the industry and 15 years in senior leadership roles. Steve is planning to continue deep involvement in science and assist in the discovery and development of drug candidates that can have a remarkable impact to patients.
Steve received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Stanford University. After a two year postdoc focused on organometallic chemistry, Steve spent five years in the Process R&D group at Merck. In 1995, Steve moved to Abbott Laboratories (now AbbVie). For the last twelve years, Steve has been a member of the senior leadership team of R&D as VP, Development Sciences. This role is accountable for all preclinical, drug substance, and drug product research and development at AbbVie. Steve’s experience includes oversight of the discovery and development of >100 drug candidates (small molecules, biologics, antibody-drug conjugates) including seven that have achieved commercial success of >$1 billion/year sales and three currently undergoing regulatory review.
