NTD HAT-Filarial-Chagas Cluster Director, DNDi
Stéphane Hugonnet joined DNDi in October 2022 as NTD HAT-Filarial-Chagas Cluster Director.
Stéphane is a medical doctor and an epidemiologist with over 20 years of experience in public health. Prior to joining DNDi, Stéphane worked in the emergency programme of the WHO in the area of surveillance, epidemiology and risk assessment, and had leading and coordinating roles at field, national and international levels during all the recent major epidemics (including MERS, Ebola, meningitis, Zika, and COVID-19). Before his tenure at WHO, Stéphane worked as a clinician, served with Médecins Sans Frontières, and worked in the area of hospital-acquired infection prevention and control.
Stéphane obtained a MD with specialisation in internal medicine, doctorate and PD (Privat Docens) from the University of Geneva Hospitals, a certificate of tropical medicine at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Prince Leopold in Antwerp, and a MSc in communicable disease epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
