Head of Drug Safety & Pharmacovigilance, DNDi
Dr Beate Aurich is the Head of Drug Safety and Pharmacoviglance. She joined DNDi in 2025.
She is a senior pharmacovigilance and drug safety physician, general paediatrician (MRCPCH, London) and a methodological expert for paediatric pharmacovigilance in the ‘conecting4children’ (c4c) network. She has over twenty years of pharmacovigilance and drug safety experience in pharmaceutical industry (GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, CureVac) and academia (Drug Safety Research Unit, UK; Paediatric Clinical Pharmacology, Paris) and holds a Medical Doctorate in pharmacoepidemiology (Portsmouth University, UK).
Leading global drug safety teams (respiratory, oncology, haematology and vaccines), she has conducted signal detection, evaluation and risk management throughout clinical development for ten different compounds. Her experience includes the successful application for marketing authorisation of a first-in-class drug in a rare disease, writing of regulatory documents, and developing safety analysis plans. She has advised on paediatric drug safety issues, PIPs, practical aspects of clinical trials in children and the review of paediatric protocols in industry and academia.
