This session commemorating World NTD Day will discuss priorities for reducing morbidity and mortality caused by neglected fungal diseases. The World Health Organization has developed the first list of priority fungal pathogens with the aim of boosting research and policies to combat fungal disease and antifungal resistance. To address this problem, it is essential to strengthen the capacity of laboratories and surveillance, invest in research and development of new diagnostic methods and medicines, as well as raise awareness at all levels of health care, including public health training and patient associations.
