Head of Dengue Global Programme and Scientific Affairs, DNDi
Neelika Malavige joined DNDi in July 2022 as Head of Dengue Global Programme and Scientific Affairs, South Asia.
Neelika is a well-recognised leader in the field of dengue. Neelika is also Professor at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She previously was Head at the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine, where her research focus on dengue was to find out the therapeutic targets, notably mediators of vascular leak, the role of antibodies in disease pathogenesis, and correlates of protection in dengue.
Neelika is a MBBS who graduated with first class honours from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She also holds a MRCP (UK) and a D.Phil. from University of Oxford. She has been an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, UK, Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, UK, and more recently a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Sri Lanka. She is also a member of the ISID committee.
Neelika is an academic visitor at the University of Oxford and has ongoing collaborations on dengue. Besides, Neelika has over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, several books, newspaper articles, and public lectures to her credit. She is also active in media and public interviews.
