Dr Joseph Camardo

Dr Joseph Camardo is a Physician Consultant. Previously, Dr Camardo was Chief Medical Officer at ADC Therapeutics, an oncology company with headquarters in Switzerland, Senior Vice President at Celgene Corporation, Head of Global Health, and a member of Corporate Affairs.  

Dr Joseph Camardo completed his BA at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a year in neuroscience research, and a three-month sojourn to study Indian music in Benares. He completed a MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1979.

Dr Camardo worked in basic neuroscience research at Columbia University, was a Dana Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, and practiced general medicine in Philadelphia. In 1989 he joined the Clinical Research division of Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories; as the company grew in size and scope Dr Camardo’s role evolved to Head of Clinical Research and Head of Medical Affairs at Wyeth.

Dr Camardo is chair of the Board of MaliHealth, an NGO that works with mothers and children in Bamako, Mali; he is also a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, a member of the Institute for Ethical Leadership and Social Responsibility at Rosemont College, and a board member of Anyone Can Fly, an arts foundation in NYC. Since 2019, Dr Camardo is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee at Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi).
