Discovery Leader, DNDi
Jean-Robert Ioset joined DNDi in 2005 and currently serves as Discovery Leader at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative in Geneva.
Jean-Robert is a pharmacist by training and holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, as well as additional qualifications in tropical medicine, public health, and management of medtech, biotech, and pharma ventures.
Jean-Robert has over 15 years of experience in anti-infective drug discovery, focusing on neglected diseases such as human African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniases, Chagas disease, as well as mycetoma and emerging viral diseases. He oversees DNDi’s global early discovery portfolio and manages its screening network, collaborating with academic, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology partners worldwide. His leadership has been central to the identification and development of novel compounds, with more than 4 million chemical entities screened to date. In addition to his research and R&D responsibilities, Jean-Robert is actively engaged in business development, legal, communications, advocacy, and fundraising efforts for DNDi discovery programmes. He has authored over 70 publications in the field.
