DNDi is pleased to announce the appointment of Board Members Eric Easom and Mathieu Lamiaux and Board Observer Dr Marcus Lacerda to the organization’s Board of Directors.
DNDi’s Board of Directors consists of seven representatives nominated by each of DNDi’s founding partners and a patient advocate who represents the communities we serve. The Board is free to appoint up to eight other members in accordance with the additional skills, knowledge, and experience it requires.
Eric Easom is the Co-Founder, President, and CEO of AN2 Therapeutics and serves as Chair of its Board of Directors. With a passion for global health, Eric brings 35 years of experience across leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including Eli Lilly, McKesson, MedImmune (acquired by Astra Zeneca), and Anacor Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Pfizer).
Over his career, Eric has led efforts spanning drug discovery, development, business development, marketing, finance, and manufacturing, with a particular focus over the past 23 years on infectious diseases and neglected global health challenges. At Anacor, he built international collaborations that discovered more than a dozen potential therapies for malaria, tuberculosis, Chagas disease, and other devastating infections.
He currently serves on the Boards of the Chagas Disease Foundation and Resilient Biotics.
Dr Marcus Lacerda joined the World Health Organization Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR) as Director in March 2026 from Fiocruz Amazônia and Fundação de Medicina Tropical Doutor Heitor Vieira Dourado in Brazil. He is a Brazilian infectious diseases physician and tropical medicine researcher whose work has profoundly influenced malaria elimination strategies and the broader field of global health. Born in Taguatinga, near Brasília, Brazil, Lacerda was inspired early by experiences working in remote Amazonian communities, where he first encountered malaria and other tropical diseases.
A former President of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine, he is an international leader in malaria research, particularly in the management and elimination of Plasmodium vivax.
Dr Lacerda has collaborated with many national and international institutions to help develop and implement tafenoquine, the first single-dose radical cure for P. vivax malaria approved in 40 years, now informing WHO treatment guidelines. His research group in Manaus has established one of the most advanced clinical research centres in the Amazon, integrating laboratory science, clinical trials, and implementation research to guide health policy.
Dr Marcus Lacerda was preceded as Board Observer by Dr John Reeder, who we thank sincerely for his service to DNDi’s mission.
Mathieu Lamiaux is a Senior Partner and Managing Director at Boston Consulting Group, with over 30 years of experience in global health and socio-economic development across Africa, Europe, and the United States. A recognized leader in healthcare strategy, he has advised governments, international organizations, and private sector players on health systems strengthening, disease control, and market access across the full healthcare value chain.
He has held multiple leadership roles at BCG, including leading the healthcare practice across several regions and spearheading the firm’s global health initiatives in Europe and Africa. Mathieu has also played a key role in expanding BCG’s presence across Africa, supporting the launch of several offices.
Beyond BCG, he advises global institutions such as the WHO and is a founding member of the ‘Santé Mondiale 2030’ think tank, contributing to global health policy discussions in France and beyond.
