The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is accepting applications for participation in the DNDi Media Workshop 2022. DNDi invites health and science journalists from across Asia to submit their applications for a media workshop to be held on 24, 25, and 26 October in Bangkok, Thailand.
This is a three day, all-expenses paid media workshop to help reporters and editors to better understand climate-sensitive and neglected diseases in the region and gain insight into the science behind efforts to develop drugs for these diseases.
The workshop will allow participants to:
- Learn more about climate-sensitive diseases like dengue and sharpen their skills
- Learn more about research and development (R&D) in Asia and gain insight into clinical trials and research
- Broaden nowledge of neglected tropical diseases
- Build a network of valued sources in clinical research and development in the region
- Access the International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria (ICTMM) for one day
- Visit a site to see research work happening at Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University, Bangkok.
The workshop will include both discussion and practical sessions to expand journalists’ knowledge of R&D on neglected diseases. The workshop will take place in Bangkok on the sidelines of the ICTMM conference, which will feature researchers and clinicians from a number of countries in the region working on dengue, sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis, filarial diseases such as river blindness, mycetoma, paediatric HIV, AMR, and other neglected diseases.
Eligibility
- Professional health and science journalists working in print, broadcast, and online media may apply from the following countries:
- India
- Bangladesh
- Nepal
- Sri Lanka
- Malaysia
- Thailand

- All interested journalists may apply using the online application form no later than 30 August 2022. Please make sure that you provide the following information when submitting the form:
- A current updated CV
- A cover letter including:
- A written statement in fewer than 500 words, indicating the reason for applying and why your application should be considered
- Two samples of (or links to) your recently published work
- Applicants should have a valid passport enabling them to travel to Bangkok
- All applicants must have permission from their editor(s) to attend the workshop
