KfW, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), grants EUR 10 Million to DNDi
DNDi has been awarded EUR 10 million towards the development of treatments against sleeping sickness, visceral leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and filarial diseases. The grant will be starting this year and be disbursed over five years.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), KfW launched in 2015 a second round of funding programme to product development partnerships (PDPs) following the first round of the programme – which granted EUR 26.4 million to PDPs to develop new, effective, and affordable vaccines, medicines, and diagnostic products to combat neglected and poverty-related tropical diseases. This new round provided an additional EUR 50 million funding envelop to support PDPs and the expansion of health research.
Four other PDPs received funding from the KfW: International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM), Foundation for Appropriate Technologies in Health (PATH), TB Alliance, and Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV). DNDi is grateful for this funding renewal which will provide valuable support to deliver new treatments.
