SII dengue mAb
Develop a safe, effective, and globally accessible therapeutic for dengue
current phase of drug development

updated 6 Oct 2026
With safety and antiviral activity demonstrated in Phase I and II trials conducted by Serum Institute of India (SII), the SII dengue mAb is currently the most advanced therapeutic candidate in development for dengue and could become the first targeted treatment for the disease. Co-developed by DNDi and SII through the Dengue Alliance, the project aims to reduce progression to the severe stage of the disease and to prevent dengue-related deaths, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. A pivotal Phase III clinical trial is expected to start in early 2027 in Brazil, Thailand, and Malaysia through partnerships with national Ministries of Health, research institutions, and clinical networks. The programme represents a unique South-South collaboration to accelerate the development of an affordable and accessible dengue treatment for endemic countries.
